All roads led to Monaghan on the 29 March 2000 when MGA held their Firewalk Challenge. Hundreds of people came to see 20 people walk across hot coals to raise money for Myasthenia Gravis. Samantha Farrell, a 15 year old Myasthenic living in the town, together with her parents Joe and Joan, enthusiastically encouraged people to sign up for the Walk. Samantha also featured on local radio in the week prior to the event. The event was held in the Car Park of Monaghan Shopping Centre which was kindly given for our use and the event has raised, to date, IR £5,809. Jimmy Mee pictured, personally raised IR£1,500. |
